Boundary Wire Break Locator
Allows for easy location of breaks/gaps in your Radio Fence Boundary Wire. Emits two different tones, one along each side of the boundary wire. Tone will remain the same until you reach the break, where it will fade away and the other tone will come in on the other side of the break.
Please note that most breaks occur where wires were spliced together (or cut with a shovel). Check these areas first since the wires may have worked loose.
I purchased a unit and used it to find a wire break on my property. It worked as promised and I found the break within minutes. I'm taking $10 off of the price of a new unit and also including the 4 AA batteries that were purchased new the day I received the unit. Guaranteed to work and return policy on new unit applies to this one.
You can purchase a wire break locator from us or use the method listed below. The wire break locator is not returnable unless the wire break locator is defective. All returned wire break detectors will be tested for proper operation. We will replace defective wire locators at no charge.
Method for finding wire breaks
- Connect both ends of your twisted boundary
wire to the first terminal on your transmitter.
- Measure and cut a new piece of boundary wire
that is 1/2 the length of your boundary loop.
- Connect the new wire to the second terminal on
the transmitter.
- Locate the half- way point along your boundary
loop.
- Cut your boundary loop at the half-way point.
- Connect the free end of your new piece of wire
to either side of your boundary loop at the half way point.
- Turn the system on and check the range of this
smaller loop with the receiver collar.
- If there is no improvement in the performance
of your system, you may assume that there is a break in this portion of your
boundary. Because there is a small chance you have more than one break in your
loop, you should also try the same procedure for the other side of your loop.
- Once you determine a section of your boundary
loop has a break in it, find the middle of that section and cut the wire. Be
sure to re-splice the first cut that you made and make it waterproof by caulking
with silicone.
- Connect the new wire to your boundary loop at
the point at which you made the cut in STEP 9.
- Turn the system on and check the range of
this smaller loop with the receiver collar.
- Repeat STEPS 8 - 11 until you find the
damaged section of wire.
- Replace damaged wire with new wire. Remember
that all wire in your boundary loop must be the exact same size and type.
